On display at Gifu-Kakamigahara Air and Space Museum. Developed from the PS-1, this dedicated SAR amphibian was capable of landing in 3 m. swells. JMSDF accepted the first of these aircraft in 1975 which led to the formation of Air Rescue Squadron 71 at Iwakuni in 1976. By the time of its retirement in Dec. 2017, the US-1A had saved over 800 lives. This US-1A made its last flight to Gifu Air Base on Dec. 12, 1995.
